The Stunning Country Of Green River, Utah

Jul 23 2011

The sweeping and majestic river bends of the Green River meander their way through jutting mesas and jagged canyons. The one of a kind scenery of this place is breathtaking, even humbling in its own way. The vast expanses of red stone and surprising greenery that line the river are in sharp contrast with each other and are beyond a doubt amongst the most beautiful of America’s natural wonders.
Green River Utah is located on the banks of the river that shares its name. In addition to the serpentine curves of the river’s path and the greenery that surrounds it, which stands out strikingly against the red stone and dirt around it, is the jaw dropping Canyonlands National Park.
In Canyonlands National Park, just south of Green River, is a winding maze of wind carved stone. Bridges of rock spawn massive chasms and pillars of smooth stone are hollowed out like a massive needle’s eye. The earth here rolls like waves and time has shaped it in amazing ways. While in the area visitors should take special care to see the Island in the Sky, a thousand foot tall mesa overlooking the remainder of the park, Needles, home of epically proportioned spires of sandstone, and if time permits the Maze offers incredible sites but is the most remote of all of Canyonlands National Park’s regions.
For travelers with a sense of exploration the stunning countryside of Green River Utah is a playground. The only limit to the adventures you can find here is your own desire. Visitors and locals alike can enjoy rock climbing giant stone monoliths, backpacking through incredible wind carved cliff faces and paddling down roaring rapids. Green River is a unique and incredibly beautiful environment that offers vistas unlike those seen anywhere else in the United States.
